Who We Are
Our team consists of attorneys who have practiced and serviced clients from legal insurance companies, and executive managers with more than 70 years of experience from the largest legal expenses insurers in South Africa. We have identified a great divide between the legal profession and the legal expenses insurance companies. This has led to the creation of a product that will become the primary mechanism that enables access to the law in South Africa.
The legal expenses insurance companies operate outside of the parameters of the legal regulators and clients are exposed to substandard service and advice. On the other hand, attorneys suffer from unnecessary administrative hurdles to provide service to clients and unnecessary delays in getting paid for the work done. This places tremendous stress on clients and attorneys.
The concept was presented to Bryte Insurance South Africa (A Fairfax company) and with their backing, we launched a new Legal Insurance model in 2019 in alignment with attorney needs and to the benefit of our clients. Our Policies Exclude
In an effort to keep our policies affordable we had to make the following exclusions
Limits of cover to keep the policy affordable:
- Any Business-related activities/claims
- Admission of guilt fines
- Political, Human Rights related
- General damages
- Defamation where the policyholder wishes/wants to issue summons.
- Property not listed as your permanent place of residence.
- Tenants & rentals
- Matters that do not require litigation and that may be settled.
- Any group action/protests/participation
- Transfer of liability i.e. surety
- Tax related matters
- Insolvency, debt rehabilitation or related matters.
- Burial matters or related disputes.
- Conveyancing, property transfer or related matters.
Important Information with any Legal Insurance:
- You must have prospects of success in your main action.
- You must have a direct personal interest.
- You must keep your policy up to date.
We require your full cooperation with your attorney.
We only pay Legal Fees and Disbursements if we have given a written undertaking to your Lawyer beforehand.
